In the last fifty years, 4 of every 10 Seventh-day Adventists have left the church. What are the causes of this hemorrhage, what can be done to staunch the wounds, and how might we reclaim those who were once part of our church?
On April 1 and 2, 2016, Dr. David Trim and Dr. Galina Stele, of the General Conference Office of Archives, Statistics, and Research, will be holding a seminar at Walla Walla University Church on membership loss, retention, and reclamation: “Why did they leave? Why might they come back?” Trim and Stele will share data from an unprecedented series of research projects into why Seventh-day Adventist church members stop attending church and leave membership altogether. They will also share stories of those who slipped out the back door—and of some who have since returned.
The seminar will begin Friday night, April 1 at 6:00 p.m. and will continue on Sabbath April 2 at 9:30, 10:30, 11:45 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. If you care about the health of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, you won’t want to miss this seminar.
