Hamilton Holds a Prayer Conference

Sabbath, Sept. 23, 2017, found the Hamilton Church filled with about 175 members and guests representing 12 Adventist churches from Montana and three from other states. They were all eager participants in the Prayer Conference held by Pavel Goia.

Goia encouraged those in attendance to focus on the God of solutions instead of the problems they face every day. He shared many inspiring stories of how God has intervened in his life in answer to prayer. May we all join him daily on our knees in the presence of our Lord and Savior.

Montana Women Enjoy 'From Broken to Beautiful' Women's Retreat

Ladies from across Montana met at the Stage Stop Inn in Choteau, Sept. 8–10, 2017, for the Montana Christian Women's Retreat. Forest fires saturated the skies in dense smoke outside, but inside the fire of the Holy Spirit burned brightly as Tawny Sportsman from Oregon led those present on a journey, “From Broken to Beautiful.”

ACS DR and Kalispell Pathfinders Help Fire Victims

Adventist Community Services Disaster Response (ACS DR) and Kalispell Pathfinders collaborated in assembling cooking kits for fire victims in northwest Montana. According to our ACS/ADRA standards, ACS DR team members in Kalispell bought supplies for the kits and the Pathfinders assembled them as part of their disaster ministry honor.

Montana Youth Rush 2017

The canvassing work is a seed-planting ministry. Most of the time, we don’t see much results from the work we have done. But since this is the third consecutive year Montana Youth Rush has been working in the conference, we had the privilege of seeing some of the results of this door-to-door ministry work of past summers.

For those of us who learn best by visual means, having a life-size model can help bring history to life and give us a glance into a culture we have only read about.

Ramirez Says 'Yes' to Montana Conference Presidency

Elden Ramirez has accepted the invitation of the Montana Conference board of directors to serve as conference president. Ramirez, who has directed the North American Division (NAD) Office of Volunteer Services since 2013, plans to meet soon with Montana Conference workers and hopes to make a full transition with his family as quickly as possible.

Montana Pastors Attend Living Hope School of Evangelism

Miles City Hosts Evangelism Weekend

The Miles City Church in Montana hosted Amazing Facts Center of Evangelism (AFCOE) on the weekend of April 21–22. More than 80 people attended the program as Chuck Holtry, AFCOE director, presented such topics as the cycle of evangelism, reclaiming missing members, friendship evangelism and our divine commission as Seventh-day Adventists.

Halvorsen Turns Down Montana Invitation

Ron Halvorsen Jr., Ohio Conference president, has turned down the Montana Conference invitation to serve as its next conference president. Halvorsen was elected by Montana delegates at the June 18 constituency session to replace Merlin Knowles who has retired.

Halvorsen, who served from 2002–2005 as pastor/chaplain at Mount Ellis Academy in Bozeman, Mont., said that both he and his wife, Buffy, believed the Lord still wanted them to continue their ministry in Ohio.
