HAWKES — William "Bill" Edward, 70; born Aug. 4, 1945, Oxford, Maine; died Feb. 3, 2016, Mebane, N.C. Surviving: wife, Elouise (Stancil), of North Carolina and Alaska; son, William Hawkes Jr., of Germany; stepsons, Thomas Bugbee, Princeton, N.C.; James Clay Rhodes, Hurdle Mills, N.C.; Brian Bugbee, Roxboro, N.C.; daughter, June (Hawkes) Shabazz, Mebane; 6 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Hawkes was a volunteer missionary with the Alaska Conference. Bill and Elouise were married for 31 years.
