Journey Christian School Fosters Community During Crisis

Journey Christian School in Kelso, Washington, is an encouraging community full of energy, dedication to a Christ-centered life and hands-on learning. Through the years, JCS has grown, and many people smile back on memories full of teachers who serve God, students and families. Our devoted teachers lead students to be their best as they engage in project-based learning.

Transitioning from the classroom to distance learning, each class engages in interactive lessons from home thanks to daily Zoom classes, tutoring sessions and story times. We have meaningful Bible lessons led by pastors Nick Gosney, Rick New and Evan Davies, as well as alumnus Mitchell Powers. The upper grades have been learning to become efficient self-managers as they continue the academic rigor of middle school. Our students have also been baking, creating animals from materials around the house, writing stories and sending letters to connect with the elderly in our local church.

The situation is not ideal for anyone; we would love to be in the classroom and on our beautiful campus. In spite of this, our teachers, students and parents are rising to the occasion, honoring God with incredible teamwork to maintain the quality education of every child. Journey Christian School is a place where God leads and where the church and school community feels like family.
