Nampa Women's Brunch Focuses on Gift of Giving

With Christmas carols in the background and happy voices in the foreground, our Nampa Women’s Christmas Brunch in Star, Idaho, was happening! Earlier, before the festivities began, the women’s ministries team had arrived and transformed the Heron River Clubhouse into a festive event hall.

With a theme of “Gift of Giving,” attendees entered, placing their gifts of personal care items by the door. These gifts were designated for the Nampa Women’s and Children’s Shelter. Women’s ministries has a desire to minister to others, thus our gift to the shelter.

After relishing the tasty fare prepared by each attendee, we enjoyed beautiful carols presented by Lisa Evenson on her harp, a thought-provoking poem by Val D’Eon and Karen Pearson’s presentation “The Gift of Receiving.” Pearson questioned why it is often more difficult, especially for women, to receive rather than give. Her concluding question was, “Have you received the gift given to each of us that long ago Christmas?” A final carol and a prayer of blessings were a fitting close.

Perhaps the greatest blessing came when the personal items were delivered to the shelter. It was exciting to see the surprise and awe on the workers’ faces and to hear words of gratitude when the personal care items were delivered. Truly, in blessing others, we have been blessed.
