Prineville Church Welcomes New Pastor

Pastor Jose Galvez and his wife, Sherry, were happily welcomed by the growing congregation at a well-attended party on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006. The new pastoral team came to Prineville, Ore., in August after accepting a call from the Oregon Conference.

Young, energetic, and equipped with knowledge earned from Weimar College in California and masters studies at Andrews University in Michigan, plus eight years of pastoral experience, the husband and wife team comes to the Prineville Church like a breath of fresh air, ready to take on the responsibility of nurturing the members, organizing and leading out in outreach programs.

Pastor Galvez, a dynamic preacher, already started visitation and has initiated contact with other ministers from both Seventh-day Adventist and Protestant denominations in Central Oregon. Sherry is the children’s ministry coordinator and is busy putting together Sabbath School materials. She also works at the Crook County School District with the Title 1-C Migrant Program.

For about 10 months, the Prineville Church search committee prayed, looked, and discussed names in order to find a good match for a pastor. Now God has blessed us with one. With a dedicated ministerial team and a beautiful new church from generous donors almost nearing completion, the church members are gearing up to reach the community with various ministries. Praise God for all these blessings.
