UCA Sponsors "Change Your World" Jars to Help Tsunami Victims

Along with the rest of the world, Upper Columbia Academy students were compelled to do something that would make a difference for the victims of the Christmas Day tsunami. From the HOPE Task Force office where community service is coordinated, they were able to pick up “Change Your World” jars to collect spare change. Each pint-sized canning jar was tied with a different color of ribbon: Gold represented economic recovery, green represented the healing of the land, and blue (the most popular) represented clear skies and clean water.

A pint-sized canning jar will hold approximately $5 in pennies. With other coins mixed in, obviously, that total will grow. One jar, which held a number of Sacajawea coins, held $82.59! More than three dozen students and another dozen community members participated, altogether collecting 10,804 coins! They totaled $526.25 which has been forwarded to ADRA.
