Small Church Celebrates Big Baptism

It’s not often that a small, country church is witness to the baptism of four men in one day unless it’s part of an evangelistic series. However, on Nov. 15, 2003, the Ferndale (Wash.) Church family watched as their pastor, Louis Turner, baptized Mark Walter and Keith Nelson, both of Bellingham, Wash., and Greg Schulte and his son, Jacob, both of Blaine, Wash. Each gave brief testimonies on what led them to this moment.

Walter and Nelson had been attending the Ferndale Church for almost a year. The Schultes were more recent additions to Sabbath morning services. As each of the men came closer to making a decision for baptism, they ended up studying as a group with Vera Friesen, personal ministries leader, and developed a special bond.

All four men have overcome difficulties and challenges on their individual journeys toward a new life in Jesus Christ. It was a joyous occasion to see them give their hearts to the Lord after many months of study and the earnest prayers of the church members.
