Roosmas Retire From Orcas Christian School

Dedication to service and excellent teaching and administrative skills have been the life of Tom and Kathy Roosma. After 18 years with Orcas Christian School (OCS), they retired at the end of the 2016–17 school year. They have been with the school since 1999, filling the roles at that time as the school's first two teachers. Prior to coming to Orcas, they taught at Central Valley Christian School in Tangent, Ore., for several years.

The Roosmas have been leaders in many areas of service throughout the years such as heading up community dinners, prayer partners for the OCS students and Senior Pals. They've baked Christmas cookies for  local seniors and made more than 1,000 May Day flowers, which were delivered to islanders — just a few of their projects they have been involved with over the years. Their teaching has inspired and impacted for good the lives of their students. The Roosmas will be missed even as their school family wishes them well and a well-deserved and happy retirement.
