Fresh Direction for ASI Northwest

The melting pot of Adventist members and mission is nowhere more evident than at an Adventist-laymen’s Services and Industries (ASI) convention. That diversity, coupled with a common passion for sharing Christ in the marketplace, was a centerpiece of the recent ASI Northwest (ASI NW) convention held April 21–23 in Boise, Idaho. Chapter leaders James Rafferty, Rick Westermeyer and Fred Cornforth put together a rich menu of speakers and topics germane to the ASI mission.

Social Media Brings Old Topic to Life

Two days before the event, more than 600 people were preregistered for the Voice of Prophecy’s “In Search of Meaning: Archaeology and the Bible” March 3 opening night event in Puyallup, Wash. The only problem? The venue had just 300 seats.

In an effort to accommodate the hundreds interested in attending, Voice of Prophecy contacted each registrant and asked if they would be willing to switch to an added time slot. Most were happy to help make room for more visitors.

Response to Racism

I really appreciated Martin Weber's "A Sanctuary From Racism" article. When I was a young teen, and my family was living in Alaska, we befriended Caren, an exchange high school student from Kenya who was attending a Catholic high school in Copper Center, Alaska. From time to time she would come to our home in Palmer and spend the weekend with us.

Adventist Church Adopts New Global Identity System

During the annual Seventh-day Adventist world church spring executive committee meeting on April 11, in Silver Spring, Md., members voted to adopt a new identity guideline system for global use.

With the Adventist Church operating in more than 200 countires and territories around the world, and worshiping in more than 900 languages, a cohesivie visual identity was challenging but something church administrators and leaders were eager to accomplish.

Adventist Health Announces New Directions in Walla Walla

Adventist Health has announced intentions to transfer control of Walla Walla General Hospital (WWGH) and related services to Walla Walla Providence in Walla Walla, Wash., this summer. As part of the transfer agreement, Adventist Health will continue an active presence in the area with plans to administer a special fund for new and innovative services within the Walla Walla Valley.
