Fountainview Academy Spreads Christmas Cheer in Grants Pass

Blessings were many at the Grants Pass Church with the return of the Fountainview Orchestra and Singers from Fountainview Academy in Lillooet, British Columbia, Canada. This community event was part of the Fountainview “What Kind of King?” Christmas Tour 2015. For Grants Pass Church, the event spanned two days, Dec. 6 and 8, 2015, and featured four free concerts. Hundreds of people filled the sanctuary who otherwise would not have visited an Adventist church.

Audiences were treated to sacred Christmas music, with songs such as “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel,” “Silent Night,” “O Holy Night” and “What Child Is This?” The heavenly harmonies of dozens of students were such a delight to audiences and praise to our Lord. Young people took opportunities to demonstrate their faith and love for Jesus Christ during each program, sharing personal testimonies and Scripture. Audiences were given resources, including health evangelism literature, to learn more about Jesus and the Bible. Appeals were given to commit to Christ.

Students from the Grants Pass Seventh-day Adventist School participated with the academy in two songs, the “Candlelight Carol” and the “Hallelujah Chorus.” This was yet another testimony to the power of music as ministry for Christ. The results of quality Adventist education were on full display by both schools.

Fountainview students participated in more than just concerts while in Grants Pass. They led a chapel service at the Grants Pass Adventist School, as well as caroling at Gospel Rescue Mission, where they were treated to a vegetarian luncheon. They also performed at Rogue Valley Adventist Academy in Jacksonville. Additionally, these young people distributed several thousand GLOW (Giving Light to Our World) tracts while in town.

Better Life Broadcasting Network (BLBN) sponsored the musical event and provided live online streaming. BLBN Television rebroadcast concert highlights during the Christmas season. Evergreen Federal Bank, as in years past, assisted with the underwriting of free concert tickets (which were needed to ensure the church didn’t exceed capacity). Evergreen also provided professionally made promotional materials such as posters and church bulletin inserts.

Grants Pass members anticipate continuing this event anually. The music provided by these young people is but a sample of heavenly sounds that will be enjoyed when Christ returns.
