Ritzville Church Shares God's Love

The Ritzville (Wash.) Company recently participated in several activities to share God's love with the community.

In September, members worked with Liz Cross, dietician and event coordinator, to help people discover their "health age" at the Wheatland County Fair. Eighty-seven individuals participated, and several expressed interest in a variety of health issues. Vibrant Life magazines, with Bible studies attached, were distributed, as well as fliers for an upcoming cooking school.

Also in September, the church was involved in Let's Move Day, a nationwide effort to collectively walk a million miles and raise awareness of the issue of childhood obesity. Community members were also involved, and 20 people ages 2 to 73 walked a total of 46 miles.

The cooking school, conducted Oct. 3–4, 2011, by Cross and Lois Smith, registered nurse, brought 26 attendees to sample food and listen to lectures on various aspects of nutrition in relation to health. A bonus for all attendees was bird owner Linda Pond, who brought parrotlets Mango and friends and shared how much of what they eat to maintain their health is similar to what we need.

A week later, the church invited the community to a showing of the healthy-eating documentary Forks Over Knives.
