Hood View Junior Academy Goes Green!

Sustainability and recycling are important in every aspect of life, but especially at school. Hood View (Ore.) Junior Academy has embraced this concept, and students, parents and faculty alike are all striving to go green. Students are recycling paper, cans and bottles. They are composting their lunch leftovers. The cafeteria has banned all paper products in favor of reusable. Parents are diligently turning off their cars to avoid producing more emissions. Light switches are turned off. Newsletters are sent via e-mail. There is even talk of planting a garden. All of these efforts have led to Hood View being awarded an Oregon Green School certificate. Students have achieved the first tier of this honor from Clackamas County and plan to continue on in their sustainability efforts.
