Northwest Family Tradition in Medicine Continues

On May 25, 2008, the 103rd class graduated from Loma Linda University Medical School. In the class was Brandon Matthew White, son of Dan and Shirlie (Hart) White of Yakima, Wash. Brandon become the 12th member of this family to earn an medical degree from Loma Linda University.

Lewis and Elmer Hart both graduated from Yakima Valley Academy, Walla Walla College, and Loma Linda University. Ken and Richard Hart and Brandon White all graduated from the same institutions. Wes Hart graduated from Monterey Bay Academy, Pacific Union College, and LLU.

Lewis Hart is retired and lives in Loma Linda, California. Elmer Hart is retired and lives in Yakima, Wash. Ken Hart lives and practices public health medicine in Loma Linda. Richard Hart also lives in Loma Linda and is the new president of Loma Linda University. Brandon White will continue his medical profession with a residency in pediatrics. Wes Hart lives and practices anesthesiology in Tacoma, Wash.

Other family members to graduate from Loma Linda include Walter Hart (deceased), Merle Peterson (deceased), Roy Peterson (Bakersfield, Calif.), Steve Peterson (Sonora, Calif.), Tom Underhill (Walla Walla, Wash.), and Jenni Underhill (Tri-Cities, Wash.).
