Pathfinders Provide Refreshment to Marathoners

The Cascade Eagles Pathfinders were up before dawn so they could arrive early for the Whidbey Island Marathon held in April.

Pathfinders staffed two water stations along the marathon route and near the finish line. Each group handed out water, Gatorade, and Gu packets to runners in need of replenishing liquids.

Despite standing and shivering in the early morning cold, the club put their youthful energy into getting ready to cheer on the runners. They made colorful signs, pumped pom poms into action, and raised voices in encouragement as the marathoners ran past.

Following the race, Pathfinders also helped with clean-up. Helping with the water stations was a project for partial fulfillment of a community service honor.
