PAA Genesis Study Results

Earlier in the school year, Portland Adventist Academy (PAA) took part in The Cognitive Genesis Academic Study (CoGat) of Seventh-day Adventist Schools across the nation. The PAA freshman and juniors participated in the CoGat test while the sophomores took the I-TED.

The PAA freshman class landed in the top 17 percent of the nation. The sophomore class made the top 11 percent while the juniors rose to the top 6 percent.

“The freshman scores give credit to the elementary schools,” says Lynda Logan, PAA vice principal of academics and guidance counselor. “Those teachers gave a wonderful background. And both the sophomores and juniors have continued to raise their scores,” she continued. “This is a reflection of the importance of academics at PAA.”

Portland Adventist Academy will continue to administer the CoGat until the study is finalized in the 2009–10 school year. Meanwhile, the staff, students, and parents at PAA are continuing to improve on what is already going well.

“They’re a phenomenal bunch of kids,” beamed Logan. “They’re talented, energetic and very, very spiritual. They’re the best.”
