Train Ride Unites Church and School

Here comes the Bible train chugging 'round the bend …

These words were carried through the air on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005, as students from Eagle Adventist Christian School sang their school theme song on an open car on the Thunder Mountain Railroad line. Every three years, the students in my first- to fourth-grade classroom study trains on Friday. As part of their activities, all the school children and many church members take a train ride to a pumpkin patch where they get to pick pumpkins.

This year more than 200 people joined us for the train ride. The students loved learning about the train and experiencing the joy of getting to ride. Students from Caldwell Adventist Elementary School also joined us.

The highlight of the trip was getting to sing their train song as they chugged down the tracks. After the trip, many stayed and enjoyed a picnic in the park at Horseshoe Bend. It is a great way to witness and to learn, as others get to see the enthusiasm and hear the students sing about going to heaven.
