Creation Seminar Hosted at Oasis Church

The weekend of March 4–5 the Oasis Church in Boise, Idaho, hosted a faith-building creation seminar, conducted by Doug Newton, M.D., founder and president of Trinity Creation Studies, Inc. Newton is head of the emergency room at Walla Walla General Hospital. He also has degrees in biology and chemistry from Loma Linda University. In addition to his medical practice, he has a keen interest in creation studies.

Friday evening began with the fascinating topic, “How Mount Saint Helens Smokes the Beagle.” Creatively displayed all over the church were replicas of fossils from the pre- and post-flood world. He had many replicas of op (tical) art that evolutionists dismiss as anomalies. They have no logical answers because they do not fit their world view of evolution.

We learned from a creationist's viewpoint how different the pre-flood Earth was. Newton explained how a worldwide catastrophic event like the flood explains the ice age, cave men, and the disappearance of the woolly mammoth. Through the lens of the Hubble Space Telescope we learned how science can actually re-frame the age of the earth. More importantly, we were re-introduced to our loving, Creator God. For some, faith was restored and rekindled. For others, a seed of faith was planted. Overall, God was truly lifted up and glorified.
